About Melanie
Growing up in Poughquag, New York in the Mid-Hudson Valley, Melanie was known by her friends and family as a quiet and shy child. So, when it was time for the biannual theater production at the local middle school, it came as a surprise to many close to her that she decided to audition for a part.
Since that first production, Melanie has dedicated herself to acting, both on stage and on film. In 2012, she began studying at Western Connecticut State University as a Musical Theater major. It was there that she studied under reputable industry artists turned faculty, such as Julio Agustin, Elizabeth Parkinson and Janelle Robinson. Melanie continued cultivating her skills onstage as well, playing the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland the Manhattan Project, various children's theatre productions and during her senior year, Amy March in Little Women.
Notable for a both gentle and powerful Soprano vocal range, Melanie has developed a singing voice to suit a number of parts. This has allowed her to bring her acting skills to her musical renditions.
Melanie attended Capri Cosmetology school after graduating college, and is now a freelance licensed cosmetologist. She now resides in New York City studying under Joleen Wilkinson.
She lent her skills as a cosmetologist to Ogunquit Playhouse where she worked as a wig assistant. From there she supervised ‘By the Way Meet Vera Stark’ and ‘Curse of the Starving Class’ at Signature Theatre in New York City.
Currently, she is the wig supervisor for the 10th anniversary production of ‘Rock of Ages’ at New World Stages.
